Your Business: Your Legacy

Your Business: Your Legacy

I was screening applicants for various position in our company, when I encountered one man that made me think twice.

He is unemployed and is in the late 40’s.

I went through his resume and found out that he was employed by a company that carries his surname.

I asked him if that is his business.

“No,” he answered.  “It’s my uncle’s,” he mumbled.

Then I asked him, “Why did you leave that company?”

“The business closed down, because my uncle died.” he answered.

SUSTAINABILITY is one aspect that solopreneurs, new business-owners, and even established business usually overlooked.  They aim for results right away but forgot to prepare the organization for the future.

When building a business, it is important to setup and follow processes that will replicate your strengths and bridge your weaknesses.

How are you going to do that?

  1. Hire the right people and continuously develop them
  2. Develop a system that will allow your business to continuously operate without you

These may seem easy but these need a lot of expertise to execute.

If you are new to business, or you haven’t tried both, the first thing you should do is talk to experienced business people or engage consultants and experts who can share with you best practices and help you setup your business and seal your legacy.
